Description
This gentle lullaby is in simple triple time, with violins and violas playing the same rhythm in the opening bars. Celli take the melodic line in bar 45, with 1st violins soaring over the top of the ensemble, while the others accompany with pizzicato. The Key is D major and the piece uses quarter notes, half notes and dotted half notes, to consolidate counting in 3/4 time. This beautiful cradle song is perfectly suited to a young orchestra, as a first step to playing in parts.
