Description
As a child, my father, Giuseppe, would sing this Italian Folk Song to me and my 7 siblings – it was about a hat which had three points.
The music evokes the joyful atmosphere of the famous Carnivale di Venezia, with its colourful characters and beautifully painted masks.
Venice is not far from where Giuseppe was born, in the charming town of Vicenza. The melody is instantly recognisable, and the variations explore major and minor keys, string crossing and fast semiquaver passages.
Tempi should be carefully adjusted, so that the fast passages are manageable and easily passed throughout the sections of the orchestra. The piano part is optional.
